Sunday Champions

Since childhood, these seven, 30-something friends have all hung out together on the soccer field.

Season I | Comedy Series | 14 x 25’

There’s Alex, the lawyer and tireless manager of the squad; Marc, who can handle the ball much better than his switch from playboy to daddy; the somewhat sluggish family man Claus; Mafuta, who believes his dreadful TV show will make him the next Letterman; Highko, the eternal student, who is the last guy you want to play in the big game;

Tobi, with a heart as big as his mouth, and Peter, a vegetarian wimp who because of his less than adequate soccer skills, always feels a bit left out.

Together they find refuge from the daily grind of their lives on the field. It is especially on Sundays that they give their all for the big, weekly game in their hobby league.

Being basically little leaguers in men’s uniforms, they spend the week in between the big games dealing with silly and humorous daily-life dilemmas that always seem to keep them slightly off-balance.

Rounding out the cast of characters are the girlfriends and wives, who oftentimes despair of their boys’ passion for soccer, but are naturally always there in times of need. We follow this amusing squad on their always comical, highly entertaining and often touching journey to discovering that soccer is just a game, albeit the best one in the world.
