Six Weeks of Fear

Action | Miniseries, 2 x 90’

Sascha is a high-school teacher in his early 30s. Six months ago he met Julia, a freelance translator, and immediately knew she was the woman for him.

Julia flies to Turkey for a week to attend a conference on Oriental Studies. When Sascha goes to the airport to pick her up he discovers that she was never on the returning flight. Instead, he is told that she died in a diving accident in the Mediterranean a few days earlier.

Sascha, shocked, is soon plunged into the depths of despair. He has no reason to think that her death was anything but a cruel blow of fate...

Until he sees her again – on television! In Iraq, an unknown group has seized several Europeans and is holding them hostage. Sascha is absolutely convinced that the one woman among the hostages is Julia.

In Berlin, Sascha does everything possible to help his newfound love. This involves his researching her past, which - he slowly realizes – she had been concealing from him.

Who exactly is this woman? Why did she abandon her former career as an archaeologist? Is there a connection between the excavations she was working on in Iraq and the position she is now in? Why didn‘t she tell him she had been married? Is she involved in the machinations of an art Mafia?

The German authorities refuse to help the increasingly desperate Sascha. But then there is a sudden development: the hostage-takers release a video that clearly shows each of their prisoners. Now Sascha is convinced that the government in Berlin will take action. But to his horror, the authorities insist that the identity of the woman in the video can‘t be established.

Sascha realizes he has to act alone. He sells all his possessions and flies to Iraq, determined to do everything in his power to rescue Julia... even though it’s become clear that certain forces back in Germany are willing to go to any lengths to prevent her from ever being released.

With the help of Tarik, Julia‘s former husband who is himself Iraqi, Sascha does manage to liberate Julia from her captors. It is only after her rescue that the real race against time begins – with Julia’s life in the balance.

She has chanced upon information that influential circles in Germany want to keep secret, even at the cost of her life.

Sascha and Julia have just one small chance. They must bring the information out into the open and reveal the identities of the men pulling the strings before they themselves are terminated. Of dire consequence is the fact that the deadly secret they hold has nothing to do with archaeology…
