The Greening of Whitney Brown

A delightfully entertaining family adventure starring Aidan Quinn (“Legends of the Fall”), Brooke Shields (“The Blue Lagoon”), Kris Kristofferson (“Blade”) and Sammi Hanratty (“Hotel Zack & Cody”)

Adventure/Comedy | Movie, 1 x 90’

The spoiled pre-teen Whitney is elected president of her class at the affluent Brentford Middle School Academy in Philadelphia. Supported by her best friend Lindsay, who is vice-president, Whitney promises to throw a fantastic formal ball for the entire student body – even including the kids there on scholarships.

While shopping with her friends for their formal gowns, Whitney drops her bombshell – her date for the ball is that incredibly cute new guy Ben Wheeler! Her excitement quickly turns to dismay, when her credit card is refused at the cash register.

Upon arriving home, Whitney is confronted with shocking news: her dad has lost his job, which will now force the entire family to make extreme cutbacks to their normally lavish lifestyle.

Having no choice but to move to the country home where her father had grown up, Whitney feels miserable. To make matters worse, the lack of cellphone coverage and Internet access means she is completely cut off from her friends in the city.

Reluctantly accepting her fate, Whitney befriends an amazing horse named Bob and manages to bring her estranged Grandpa Grumpy back into the family fold.

But when she learns that her supposedly best friend Lindsay has been spreading rumors about her back in the city, Whitney climbs onto Bob and undertakes a brash and adventure-filled journey back to Philadelphia.

Finally arriving at the artsy, urban apartment of her former au pair Alicia, she is dismayed to find Grandpa Grumpy waiting to take her back home to the country.

Whitney persuades Grumpy to let her stay for the night so she can set things straight. All her old friends are at the ball, but none of them believe her far-fetched story of technical isolation, horse riding and jumping trains until Bob shows up.

Now able to convince her real friends of her sincerity, she is able to dispose of a false one, Lindsay.

Despite a perfectly wonderful evening with Ben and her friends, Whitney realizes that Philadelphia is no longer her home and heads back to the country with Grandpa Grumpy, Alicia, and Bob – who unbelievably fits into the backseat of Alicia’s Mini Cooper.
