Claudia Harding is an ambitious historian. During her research into a 16^th century Spanish nobleman who had married an Aztec princess, she finds ancient records and charts revealing where his ship had sunk in the Caribbean.







Any discovered treasure could support her theories, but she is tricked by her deceptively supportive supervisor, Professor Teschler, who seizes her hard-accumulated research.

Furious but determined, Claudia hires the experienced treasure hunter Captain Rick Berthold, along with his supposedly ultramodern ship “Salty Dog”. But Rick’s description was not quite honest – the “Salty Dog” turns out to be a rusting hulk…

Close to despair, Claudia sees no alternative but to press on with the expedition. Contrary to all expectations, the ship does prove seaworthy and Rick reveals himself to be a clever and charming companion.

Unfortunately, looters had already scoured the wreck, leaving behind only a cup bearing the crest of the Spanish nobility – which does at least prove her theory correct. When Rick decides to search for the treasure of the legendary pirate Old Blue Eye, Claudia joins him.

Their far-reaching adventure, in which they find the pirate’s magnificent treasure – only to have it stolen away – is fraught with continual danger. Finally, they find signs of the young nobleman and his Aztec princess, but Teschler and his henchman now discover them...
