Maria is an exceptionally forceful and stubborn police officer who is given a special assignment. She gets transferred to another department to work together with Edgar, who has just lost his partner.
They must search for a child molester with multiple convictions that disappeared without a trace, as well as the young girl – his next victim – that vanished with him.
Just like his previous victims, she has just seven days left to live.
Maria also has a secret mission: Internal Affairs is trying to determine whether Edgar had anything to do with his partner's death.
There is no one better suited to the task: not only had Edgar been Maria's training instructor, he was her lover as well.
The two of them could not be any more different when it comes to work. While Edgar is far more interested in results than regulations, Maria goes about her job one way only – by the book.
Working so closely with Edgar causes Maria's old feelings to resurface, and with time, to intensify. With two nerve-racking tasks demanding Maria’s intense concentration, it is a dangerous distraction indeed.
