Detective | Movie, 1 x 90'
The mighty J.J. Epstein is a film producer and studio boss of a B-movie empire. Epstein, either despised or feared by all that knew him, meets a sudden and horrible death at the height of his success. Had it not been such tragic news, everybody would have thought that Epstein had staged his own death.
It was, after all, a scene that he had often used in his films – a trapdoor opens, the words “The world is a little bit better now” are spoken, and the actor falls through, supposedly on the waiting mattress. For J.J., however, it wasn’t a mattress that was waiting…
The audience responds with loud applause, thinking it to be simply another clever publicity stunt. They are unaware of what took place under the stage floor.
It’s a difficult and complex case because there are so many suspects, each having a reasonable motive. It’s a huge and dirty cesspool of lying, accusations and intrigue. Navigating through the never-ending lists of suspects seems like a long shot, so Police Chief Lottman decides to go after the only person not under suspicion, the only one Epstein trusted. But who, and where are they?
On the trail of the mystery figure, Eva Blond and her partner Alyans stumble across a safe crammed full with cash, an iron cross and a missing page of Epstein’s will. After narrowly escaping a death that could have simply been accidental, or made to look that way, the two crime fighters grimly prepare their trap…
