The Fox: Artistic Thievery

Detective | Movie, 1 x 90'

In the process of stealing a huge Delacroix painting from the castle of Count Thoelen, Fox & partner are interrupted by an unknown person. In their haste to safely escape, they are forced to roll the painting up and stash it in the roof’s rain gutter.

What they don’t know is that the person who spoiled their well-planned heist was none other than Karen, who works as a thief by night… and an insurance agent by day. She also just happens to be Fox’s ex-girlfriend, whom he had left years ago to be with his current partner Andrea.

Fox is waiting for a hard rain to retrieve the stashed painting, when he can pose as a hired roofer. His only reason for the theft is to sell the painting and distribute the money among the Count’s employees. It turns out that the Count had cheated his staff out of the money that had been left to them by his father, the previous Count.

Heading the investigation is Commissar Breuer and the insurance agent Karen, who secretly plans on making off with the painting herself. When the investigation turns up clues that lead to her ex-boyfriend Fox, she’s even more determined to own the valuable prize.

She discovers that just before Fox dumped her for Andrea, he was actually dating both women at the same time.

Karen uses that fact to create tension between Fox and Andrea, but Fox is too clever for her and he’s able to keep the relationship intact. He’s also able to get to the painting first, only to quickly lose it to Karen’s clever trickery.

Fox isn’t about to give up, and comes up with a plan that forces Karen to return the painting to the Count as an insurance agent, rather than keeping it for herself as a thief. So again the Delacroix hangs in the Count’s castle awaiting the planned art auction. Fox & Team have to strike quickly and the only way to do it is smack in the middle of the auction with all eyes upon them…
