After a painful separation from his wife, Markus, a successful hotel director, decides to take some time off and fly to Thailand. His hopes for a bit of relaxation collapse when his Aunt Dorothee, the owner of a luxury hotel empire, asks him to take over the management of her Thailand hotel. 
The current hotel manager Simon, whose job performance has been less than satisfactory, might very well lose his job, so Markus agrees to help his aunt.
After a few days on the job, Markus discovers that Simon is dealing with some heavy personal problems. 
He was reunited with his estranged daughter who is visiting Thailand, but she is still holding a grudge and has no interest in refreshing their relationship. Devastated but still hopeful, Simon is unwilling to give up. Markus, knowing Simon’s potential, gives him a second chance, allowing him to work as his assistant until he can get his personal life back on track.
Eventually, both Simon and his daughter are able to acknowledge that they do really care about each other. Meanwhile, hotel guests Ariane and Jan are fighting to keep a marriage intact that’s been threatened by the death of their child.
Jan is now a workaholic and neglects his attractive wife, and both have doubts about their future. 
On a day outing through the beautiful countryside, Ariane reveals to Jan that she is pregnant again. Overjoyed, Jan and Ariane are suddenly looking forward to a happy future together. Another difficult love story centers on the shy teacher Helena who, with some help, goes through a transformation from “ugly duckling” to “beautiful swan” and steals the heart of the good-looking music manager Daniel.
When Dorothea returns to Thailand and finds her luxury hotel in top shape, Markus convinces her that Simon is the man to run the hotel in his former position. On the last day, the “Dream Hotel” organizes a big beach festival for all of their guests...
