Finn Sieveking is the last of a great family of shipbuilders whose specialty is the construction of large freighters. In keeping with tradition, his top priority remains the company, with – much to the regret of his severely ill mother Maria – absolutely no time for a private life.
After Maria’s death, this proves to be the least of his worries: Finn discovers an enemy within his own ranks. His colleague and friend Frank has shifted his allegiance to Finn’s staunchest opponent in the company, Alexandra Vanderbuilt. 
Alexandra has acquired a huge interest in the Sieveking shipyard and now plans on implementing radical changes to attain her own selfish goals.
But an even greater shock still awaits Finn – he is suddenly confronted with Jonathan Clark, his biological father he had never known. Clark, a free-living drifter, had recently learned from Maria that he had fathered a son 30 years ago. Now, he has shown up to support Finn during this difficult time. 
Although Finn would like to keep his father at a distance, he knows he must come to terms with him. Maria had divided her shares in the shipyard equally between the two, and only by working together they can keep Alexandra in check.
In his battle to retain control over the family business, Finn is armed not only with the formidable expertise of his secretary Caro, but also with the relentless fighting spirit of his father…
