Johanna and Marlies, who both work for the Austrian Tourist Office, have been close friends for years. When Marlies takes on a demanding assignment in a remote mountain region and introduces Johanna to the highlight of her planned campaign – the famous mountain climber Ferdinand Plocher – the two hit it off immediately.
Three weeks later Johanna receives devastating news: Marlies has fallen to her death in the mountains! Seeking answers, she descends into the village to Joerg’s farm, where Marlies had been living.
There, she learns that Ferdinand is Joerg’s brother. But Johanna’s attempts to find out more about Marlies’ fatal accident are met with a stony wall of silence. As a result of a fight with Jörg in which shots are fired, Ferdinand disappears into the mountains. 
During Johanna’s trek to find him, she herself loses her footing, takes a fall and is knocked unconscious. She awakens in a cave – with a bearded man leaning over her! It is Ferdinand, who had saved her life and who now admits he has fallen in love with her. But he felt he had to keep his distance because of having lied for Joerg, who is paid to maintain the climbing routes and had tragically failed in his duties, which resulted in Marlies’ death.
Ferdinand and the injured Johanna are rescued from the cave, and only a few weeks later, a wedding takes place…
