Philipp Hansen had left his dreadful hometown hoping to forget his traumatic encounter with the “Gonger” Eric.

According to local legend, a 'Gonger” is someone who has been killed in the tidelands and returns two generations later to get revenge on his murderer’s grandchildren...





But Philipp’s escape brings him no peace: the “Gonger” haunts him in his dreams, still seeking his bloody vengeance.










At home, one person after another dies in a series of incredible accidents. When Eric kills Helma, his former lover, Phillip can no longer run away from his past. Swearing revenge, he returns and makes a vow to kill Eric – someone must finally end the “Gonger’s” reign of terror…






Five determined young people join Philipp on his mission: Felix, a movie freak, Marc, an athlete, Pia, the daughter of the late detective, Lucas, the pastor’s tech-wiz son and Lili, whose sister also fell victim to the “Gonger”.

Step by step, the group makes progress unravelling the intricate puzzle Eric has created. A perilous undertaking: he has also set dangerous traps.



Up against a phantom, they have only one last chance – an acoustic wave detector – but a ruthless creature of the spirit world is not so easily defeated…

Just when they think they have won the deadly game, the “Gonger” strikes back and the dying starts again.






Phillip is now the main target, and his only hope is to commit suicide at the very moment Eric tries to kill him. He challenges Eric but suddenly realizes that all he knew about the “Gonger” was a lie. At the last second, Eric prevents Phillip from killing himself… but why?







Philipp discovers he was not the last member of the Hansen family: Helma gave birth to a child! She had kept the secret that Philipp is the father, but will he be able to save his son from the “Gonger”?
