When Kante discovers Lizzy could testify against him, his immediate priority is to silence the prostitute as quickly as possible. Her life now in great danger, Lizzy must completely disappear. Where though, can she go?
Changing her appearance and disguising her true identity, Lizzy takes a job at the State Office of Criminal Investigation. Her new position poses problems of its own. Not only is Lizzy completely unqualified to work in the bureaucratic world, she is – by virtue of her true occupation – anything but a team player. 
In addition, Lizzy falls for Conrad, her attractive boss. Although still mourning for his deceased wife, his heart floods with newfound warmth upon meeting his new assistant. But when he learns that Lizzy had lied to him and deceitfully hidden her lewd past, his already wounded heart again recoils in anguish.
Finally, Lizzy gathers the courage to testify against Kante. She must proceed quickly and with extreme care, because Kante now knows where to find her…
