The cheerful Bella, despite her dreams of becoming a fashion designer, is forced to sew collars for a successful fashion label in order to make ends meet.
She is overweight and suffers from a lack of self-esteem that creates doubts about her future in the fashion industry.
Nevertheless, Bella presents her portfolio to her boss, the attractive fashion designer Katja.
Bella also believes she will never find love. Her secret passion is Jan, who only sees her as his best friend. A young photographer, Jan is having a difficult time furthering his career. Bella encourages him to exhibit his portrait photos.
When the company director accidentally discovers Bella’s portfolio, it appears that Bella’s luck has changed. Until Katja unfairly claims Bella’s sketches as her own and hires her as a mere assistant. Still, Bella jumps on the chance to live her dream and labors day and night for the upcoming fashion show.
Bella hires Jan to photograph the show, only to be heartbroken when he and Katja start an affair. In desperation, she does everything in her power to draw Jan’s attention away from Katja.
But after making a scene at a party, she only succeeds in driving Jan further into Katja’s arms.
Enraged, Bella storms into Katja’s office the next morning and demands something she would never have dreamt of before: her own collection! Katja realizes her career would be over if it became known that she had presented Bella’s ideas as her own.
She has no choice but to agree. Under intense pressure, Bella begins designing her first fashion collection.
Everything is going well until Katja decides to sabotage the show…
