Helmut and Sabine run Germany’s oldest nudist club, the “Sports Club of Liberty”, where they live on the premises together with their children Jakob and Rosa.
When the property is sold to the businessman Dieter, he decides to pay the club a visit with his daughter Natalie to determine whether or not to renew their lease.
Conservative Dieter is expecting to find an ordinary sports club. With their beloved club threatened, the club’s members decide to wear clothes to keep up Dieter’s illusion – as uncomfortable as that might be.
Jakob is quickly attracted to Natalie, but despite his flirting with her at a barbecue she instead leaves the party with another young club member, Karl. 
The following morning, Dieter and Natalie make a random visit and run directly into a nudist water gym group. In the nick of time the naked swimmers all submerge – except Uwe.
Horrified by the sight, Dieter demands Uwe to be thrown out of the club for obscene behavior. 
In the evening Jakob and Natalie meet again, but Karl has a plan to destroy his rival’s chances. A fight breaks out and Karl accidentally hits Natalie directly before her father’s eyes. Now Karl is excluded from the club as well.
Then, on a hunting trip, Dieter mistakes a naked jogger for a deer and only sheer luck prevents a tragic outcome. Finally, the naked truth comes to light.
Extremely disappointed at learning how everyone had schemed against them, Dieter and Natalie travel home. This leads to a fight between Helmut and Jakob, who storms off to follow Natalie. Sabine convinces Helmut to make peace with his son, so he sets out together with his friends to bring Jakob home.
It is a trip that none of them will soon forget, especially the part broadcast on TV – Helmut and his friends, all naked, being chased by the police.
