The Last Cop

Everything has changed. Except him…

| Detective | Series, Season I: 13 x 45’, Season II: 13 x 45’

In the late 1980s young cop Mick Brisgau is seriously injured during a mission and ends up in a permanent coma. 20 years later, completely out of the blue, he suddenly wakes up – in a different world. The 21st century comes as a huge shock to macho Mick, who has never heard of things like the Internet or DNA. Modern women are tough cookies – whatever happened to big hair, shoulder pads and girlish giggles? – while the men are all wimps.

After getting shot and falling into a coma 17 years ago, the hard-headed cop Mick awakens to find himself in a completely new world.

Not only does he have to make difficult adjustments in both his professional and private life, he has to track down the traitors that had set him up…

Mick was 25-years-old and one of the toughest cops on the force. His techniques might not have been refined, but they worked. When a bullet wound to the head leaves him comatose, it is many years later that Mick finally emerges from his death sleep – now 42 years old. Modern day police work is just one of the many culture shocks he faces.

It is not just the new rules the cops must follow on their daily beat; even how men and women relate to each other has drastically changed. The police are now forced to follow strict regulations, even though the streets have become more dangerous.

New high-tech developments such as the Internet, massive databases and DNA fingerprinting are all part of a typical workday.

Not only the changes at work leave him stunned – Mick has lost his family. His wife has a new lover and he has to fight to keep his relationship with his daughter intact.

After so many years of being out of touch, he has a difficult time understanding her modern and independent lifestyle.

Because of his macho attitude, Mick’s shrink Tanja finds him a hard nut to crack. She quickly realizes that he has got more than one problem to solve.

Mick’s new partner Andreas is an inexperienced rookie who is charged with keeping his hot-headed colleague in check.

After getting off to a rocky start, they eventually learn to appreciate each other. The same does not hold true for Mick’s old boss, whose selfish ambitions have catapulted him up the career ladder.

There are good reasons why the last thing he wants is an investigation into that incident 17 years ago…
