One in a Million

Manuela Berlett’s life has been far from easy. Now that her marriage of eight years is over, she is forced into learning how to stand on her own two feet and to care for her little son Daniel alone. She is unable to quickly find a job, which soon results in her falling behind on the rent for her small apartment. It is for the sake of Daniel, the most important person in her life, that Manu finds the inner strength to rise to the challenge.

With a combination of good timing and sheer determination she lands a job as a housekeeper in the elegant Grand Hotel Aden in Berlin, where the international Jet Set indulges its every whim.










To ensure that her little boy has a comfortable home and an occasional new pair of football shoes, she is willing to scrub toilets, polish marble tiles and remain pleasant when confronted by the ruthless scrutiny of her boss Paula Gabrian and the patronizing glances of arrogant hotel guests.






Just when Manu has managed to bring her life under control, her fragile new balance is dealt a devastating blow: her ex-husband Ralf persuades the court to award him custody of Daniel on the basis that she is incapable of providing him a secure home. Now she can only see Daniel every other weekend!






Manu’s world collapses around her, but support then arrives from an unexpected source – Mark Braun, the rather good-looking but somewhat arrogant general manager of the luxury hotel. It is this smart character in his impeccable tailor-made suit that helps her bounce back and encourages her to fight for Daniel.





However, Mark does have ulterior motives – he is engaged to Alexandra Aden, whose father, the hotel owner Julius Aden, has big plans for him.

Mark, though, has a skeleton in his closet, one that must remain concealed from his future father-in-law at all costs. So when Mark’s brother Philip appears on the scene, Mark’s rosy future is threatened.



Philip, a potential investor in the hotel, is well aware of the terrible secret behind his hated brother’s flawless façade, and is fully prepared to use this knowledge for his own personal gain.









Now Mark only has one chance: he asks Manu to help him in his battle against Philip. Before long she realises how glad she is to do so, and Mark himself will also come to see that Manu is “One in a Million”...
