Offering a fun, environmentally friendly reality show with a 'green' point of view!
Green entertainment / Real Life | Format
In “High Tension”, a family is challenged to cut down the amount of energy they normally use by 300ver the course of one week.
They can live their normal lives, but they have to be careful not to exceed their energy limit. No more leaving the lights on in every room, no more long showers, no more computers or televisions left running.
The green coach first spends a day closely observing the family’s everyday life and habits in respect to their (ab)use of energy. Then, he points out clever measures the family can take to improve their energy-intensive behavior, and supplies them with a budget of €1.000 for 'a green make-over' of their house.
Then the shopping and hard labor begins! The family might have their car worked over to make it “greener” or purchase heat insulation for the attic. Whatever changes they decide to undertake, it is the change in mindset that counts most.
As if that were not enough, the family is presented with an additional challenge: to initiate and carry out a community-improvement project, such as planting a forest with 2.000 trees, or replacing every light bulb in the entire village with more efficient ones.
The green coach guides them every step of the way, motivating, evaluating and graphically visualizing the progress they are making. At the end of the show, the coach returns for a final inspection. What long-term changes has the family made to their house, their devices and their way of life? If they have managed to accomplish both assignments – to cut down their energy bill by 30% and to complete the community-improvement project – they will win € 3.000!
